The Black Bull Lies in the oldest part of the quiet Market Town of Haltwhistle. We are found in close proximity to Hadrians Wall, Vindolanda, Housesteads, The Roman Army Museum, Lambley Viaduct & Featherstone Castle.
Offering a traditional English pub experience. With a large open fire, exposed stone walls & oak beams. With a focus on local real ales & quality pub food.
The Black Bull pub is the oldest inn in Haltwhistle, with its original foundations in the 12th century. The first records show an inn being present on the site in 1652. The current building incorporates the Medieval Church House, linked to The Church of the Holy Cross. Our ale lines actually travel through the church grave yard.

The best source for
local real ales
At the Black Bull we have a strong link with the Allendale Brewery.
They make our own Black Bull Ale and we also sell several of their other real ales.
